In a small Spanish town called Vallfogona de Balaguer lived a young man named Josep Pique with his family. The family had many animals: cows, dogs, cats, rabbits... The whole family loved animals! Josep's parents came from a humble background, but through hard work, they were able to start a small farming business, caring for both cows and rabbits.

From Challenges to Success

At that time, Spain's economy was struggling. The agricultural animal market was collapsing, creating great difficulties for families like Josep's. That's when Josep suggested that they focus on raising rabbits as pets, even though pet rabbits were rare in Spain back then. So, in 1994, the family business began breeding rabbits and rodents.

Raising various species gave them extensive experience in understanding the specific needs of different animals and their natural diets. Focused on animal welfare, Cunipic knew that different species eat different foods in the wild, so there couldn’t be one food suitable for both rabbits and all rodents.

The need for species-specific, natural diets led to the creation of this brand-new range of food, which Cunipic launched in 2005.
