How our products come to be, what innovation lies behind them?
Here you will find short memories of the origins of some of our products.
FINNERO BALLERINA
Heat. That natural thing for an unspayed female dog that comes with its own little troubles, such as how heat leakage can mess up the house. There had been aids for a long time, but they were poorly fitting, impractical, and had such ordinary looks.
BALLERINA was designed for a FINNERO employee’s own dog to brighten up the heat period. The cute skirt received a lot of praise, and the dog seemed to be happier during heat, too. BALLERINA celebrates femininity in female dogs, turning this issue into an opportunity to highlight beauty and femininity—without forgetting the product's practicality and comfort.
And so Ballerina was born, for what could be more feminine and cute than a female dog protection garment that looks like a girly mini-skirt with a beautiful ruffled hem?
FINNERO JUSTINCASE
Marking and urinary incontinence in male dogs is familiar to many dog owners. However, it seemed that there wasn’t a truly reliable male wrap on the market that stayed in place, with suitable materials and other functional features.
We wanted to create a male wrap for manly dog owners that can withstand washing, stays in place, is easy to put on, and has a convenient pocket to tuck in an absorbent pad.
The product name was created somewhat accidentally as we pondered that a male wrap might sometimes be needed "just in case."
FINNERO HALLA
The story of the HALLA boot began with our product designer’s desire to protect her own poodle’s cold paws and prevent snow from clumping in her feet. Outside, the frost was biting, and the little dog was hopping around avoiding the cold. Where to find help? Boots designed for warm countries didn’t help. Rain boots didn’t keep her warm either. And those countless boot models that flew off the paws after just a few steps were not useful.
We needed a boot that would be comfortable for the dog, warm, and easy to put on. The result was HALLA, the wonderfully warm, soft fleece boot that stays on the foot!
Over the years, HALLA boots have been improved from the original, and in 2024, a new improved model will be available that features reflective elements.
FINNERO BAMBINO
When a small and adorable puppy joins the family, it becomes the apple of everyone’s eye. The BAMBINO collection features a lovely star pattern that originates from this very idea. With the star pattern, we convey how the antics of a little star are followed with interest and love. BAMBINO proclaims: puppy, you are a star!
FINNERO RESCUE
Animal rescue and improving the conditions of animals, both in Finland and elsewhere in the world, is a big issue for us at FINNERO. We wanted to contribute in some way, so we started a collaboration with the Rescue Association Kulkurit.
Our collaboration resulted in the RESCUE collection. The collection’s colorful design was created specifically for the Rescue Association Kulkurit. After some time, the color palette expanded to include green. These colors reflect the association's logo color and the overall ideology of the work done for homeless dogs.
In designing the products, special consideration has been given to rescue dogs. The collection aims to provide as gentle and safe a start to life in a new home as possible, often for confused strays who may still be wary of everything—even walking equipment. For example, the harnesses are designed to open completely, so they do not need to be pulled over the head—many fearful dogs are hesitant about harnesses that go over the head. The collection is, of course, suitable for all dogs!
We donate a portion of the proceeds from the RESCUE products to support the activities of the Rescue Association Kulkurit ry.
P.S.: In the photo, one of our employees' own dog, Papu. He is a little guy who moved to Finland from Hungary as a rescuedog in 2023. Papu is also sensitive to harnesses pulled over his head, so RESCUE products are perfect for this rescue as well!
FINNERO CAMOCOLOR
We love colors! We want to bring brightness, freshness, and colors to the dog world because we believe practicality CAN be beautiful!
Our designers created a stunning camouflage pattern, which we brought to the products in three beautiful shades: pink, green, and orange. Since we wanted the products to be comfortable for the dog, we chose soft and durable straps and our familiar neoprene padding.
FINNERO SALO
Our collection needed a long-lasting, durable basic harness that would also have a pull-resistant feature.
We found a designer from Salo, Finland, and we created exactly the kind of harness we hoped for. The product name comes from the designer's hometown!
FINNERO HALI
We listen to our customers attentively. Once again it paid off, as we received requests from our customer base for a specific type of harness, and by combining various requests, HALI was born.
HALI is designed especially for small dogs, but it also fits cats, rabbits, and other pets of similar size beautifully.
Have you figured out why HALI's belly section is black while the harness is otherwise bright in color? We designed the black belly part because the belly of small dogs is very close to the ground, making the harness's belly section more prone to dirt. Black is more forgiving with dirt: all the mud doesn’t immediately show on the beautiful harness!
FINNERO UKKO
The "father" of the FINNERO UKKO hunting vest is Antti Mukari from Suomen Metsästyspalvelu (Finnish Hunting Service). Antti has always been a passionate outdoorsman, and he has had his hunting license since the early 90s. From his father's footsteps, the lessons have been learned; Antti's family has always had dogs and enjoyed being in nature.
Antti is a versatile idea generator with extensive knowledge of hunting and dog supplies. He felt that there wasn’t enough quality hunting vests on the market. This led to the development of the UKKO hunting vest in 2011.
The vest's two-color design makes it easier to interpret the dog’s position in hunting situations; from the vest's color, you know in which direction your dog is barking or standing, even in dense cover. In low light, the fabric's surface reflects light, and the vest also withstands UV light, so it retains its bright colors for a long time. Velcro fastenings were chosen for the vest due to their adjustability and safety: if a dog happens to get caught in something like a thicket, the Velcro opens without harming the dog. The sizes of the vest have been carefully considered and tailored for various hunting dog breeds.
The UKKO hunting vest is named after Antti's dog, wirehaired German pointer named Ukko. Ukko was a very calm, cooperative, and excellent hunting dog. At home, Ukko recognized hunting clothing, and when he saw the hunting vest, he was ready to go!
Together with Antti, we have improved the UKKO vest over the years, which has become a classic favorite and a durable hunting vest.
